Formed in the mid 1930’s, the Great Southern Bowling Association is one of 12 regions within South Australia and comprises of 13 clubs and approximately 1500 members.

Geographically, the Association covers over 3500 sq. kilometres stretching west to the coast of Gulf St. Vincent, east through the Mount Lofty Ranges, vineyards of McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek to Murray River and Lake Alexandrina, north to the City of Marion boundary and Sturt River and south to the coast of Encounter Bay to the River Murray Mouth. Great Southern Association encompasses four Regional Councils: Alexandrina, Onkaparinga, Victor Harbor and Yankalilla.

Great Southern is a unified Association having one Executive committee which is responsible for all Association Bowls matters. The Executive committee is elected annually and reports to club delegates at Annual and Special General meetings.

Sub-committees for Match, Umpire, Systems Admin, Men’s and Women’s Selectors are appointed and are responsible for their respective areas. All sub-committees report directly to the Executive Committee.

The Association has been proactive in recent years, adopting technology to administer all District events on-line using Bowls Australia BowlsLink Whole of Sport IT system. Livestreaming of Events / Finals is a possibility in the near future.
